Objective to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of daily orthokeratology in improving visual function after radial keratotomy (RK)
Methods: a retrospective case study was conducted in 38 eyes of patients with decreased visual function after rk surgery in our hospital from September 2016 to March 2017. They were aged 42-53 years, aged 15-28 years, with equivalent spherical diopter of - 6.50d ￣ + 8.25d, and 8-32 radial corneal incisions, The best corrected visual acuity (BCVA), slit lamp examination, Pentacam anterior segment analysis, OQAS visual quality objective test and ametropia quality of life scale were compared before and after wearing.
(1) BCVA increased 2 eyes (18%); BCVA increased 3 eyes (40%); BCVA improved 4 lines or more in 16 eyes (42%)
(2) No corneal problems occurred during follow-up.
(3) Pentacam was used to check the distribution map width (d), OQAS scattering index (OSI) and modulation transfer function (MTF) cut-off frequency (cutoff) values of holiday EKR detail report at 3 months after wearing.
(4) There were statistically significant differences in the scores of five visual quality items before and after wearing orthokeratology lenses (from light to dark, riding at night, whether you often see halo halo at night, frequency of vision fluctuation and glare degree) (P < 0.05)
Conclusion: it is safe and effective to use orthokeratology glasses to improve vision function of patients after rk, but the long-term safety needs further observation.
