·Kunming Medical University

Kunming Medical University is a provincial key university. Its predecessor was the Department of Medicine of Donglu University founded in 1933. It was established as an independent institute in 1956. It became the first batch of master's degree-granting units in 1981. It became a doctoral degree-granting unit in 1998 and 2010. Yunnan Medical College was merged into Kunming Medical University in 2012. It is one of the first batch of universities in the central and western regions of China for basic capacity building engineering colleges. Over the past 85 years, more than 100,000 senior medical talents trained have taken root in the frontier and served the grassroots, making outstanding contributions to Yunnan's medical and health undertakings, economic and social development, national unity and progress, and border prosperity and stability.


   The school has three campuses: Chenggong (main campus), Renmin West Road, and Pingzheng. The campus covers an area of more than 1,600 acres. There are 6366 faculty members (1591 in the school headquarters and 4,775 in the directly affiliated hospital). There are 13,245 full-time general undergraduate and junior college students, 2983 graduate students, 514 international students, and 23405 adult undergraduate and junior college students. After years of development, a complete medical talent training system has been formed, including full-time higher medical (bachelor, master, and doctoral) education, post-graduation education, continuing education, and international student education.


   The school has 18 colleges (departments), 32 undergraduate majors, 4 national characteristic majors, 1 national quality course, 1 national experimental teaching demonstration center, and 1 national quality resource sharing course. The second phase of the Ministry of Education's second phase of studying in China English-taught branded courses, 2 national off-campus practice teaching bases for college students, 1 national-level co-creation space, 11 national-level teaching, research and teaching reform topics. There are 1 innovation team from the Ministry of Education, 22 provincial innovation teams, and 6 provincial teaching teams. There are 3 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points, 7 first-level discipline master degree authorization points, 5 second-level discipline master degree authorization points, 1 doctoral professional degree authorization point, and 6 master professional degree authorization points. 1 post-doctoral research station for clinical medicine. Clinical medicine has entered the top 1% of the global ESI discipline ranking.


   The school has successively won 7 national science and technology awards and 124 ministry-level science and technology awards. Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", it has won 4 special prizes and 8 first prizes of provincial science and technology awards; undertook 446 national scientific research projects, ranking third in the province, with an annual scientific research funding of 150 million yuan; There are 1 cooperative joint laboratory, 2 national-level qualification and accreditation laboratories (centers), and 56 provincial-level laboratories, centers, and bases. "Journal of Kunming Medical University" is a national core journal of science and technology.


The school has established a complete practice teaching network consisting of 4 directly affiliated hospitals, 12 non-directly affiliated hospitals, 11 teaching hospitals, 43 practice hospitals, 21 community practice teaching bases and 77 related professional practice teaching bases. Meet the practical teaching needs of students. The first and second affiliated hospitals are "third-level A" general hospitals, and the third affiliated hospital and affiliated dental hospital are the highest-level "third-level A" tumor specialist hospitals and dental specialist hospitals in Yunnan Province.


The school has established exchanges and cooperation with more than 80 universities and scientific research institutes in more than 20 countries and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. It is the "International Medical Talent Training Base" in Yunnan Province and the first batch of colleges to recruit international students with national government scholarships. It is approved by the Ministry of Education Of undergraduate clinical medicine (English-taught) schools for international students in China.


The school attaches great importance to social services and actively carries out continuing education and training for medical and related personnel; assumes social responsibilities, strengthens school-local cooperation, and carries out education, medical care, science and technology and cultural counterpart assistance.
