Fujian Medical University was founded in 1937. Its predecessor was Fujian Provincial Medical College. The first president Hou Zonglian (1900-1992) was a famous physiologist and medical educator in modern China. In the course of more than 80 years of running a school, the school has always taken the responsibility of training outstanding talents, promoting scientific and technological progress, serving social development, and promoting advanced culture as its own responsibility. It has gradually formed an excellent school motto of "diligence, rigor, truth-seeking, and innovation", and has become a medical professional. Mainly, the coordinated development of science, management, law, literature, engineering and other disciplines. It has a bachelor, master, and doctoral talent training system and a provincial key construction university integrating teaching, scientific research, medical treatment, prevention and social services. It is Fujian Medicine Health personnel training center, medical science research center and medical preventive health center. In 2017, the well-known domestic university ranking organization, which focuses on evaluating the quality of education and teaching, announced the "Ranking of China's Best Universities". Our school ranked 130th and ranked second among universities in Fujian Province.


   The school has two campuses in Shangjie and Taijiang, covering an area of about 1,500 acres, with a school building area of more than 420,000 square meters. The main body of the school is located in the new campus of the university in Fuzhou. There are 20 colleges (departments), more than 21,000 students, more than 11,200 faculty and medical staff (including affiliated hospitals), of which more than 1,200 are in the school headquarters. There are 6 directly affiliated hospitals, of which the third affiliated hospital is under construction. Adhering to the concept of open education, it has successively signed academic exchange agreements with more than 30 universities and research institutes abroad (overseas), and carried out multi-level and multi-angle cooperation.


   The general goal of the school is to cultivate high-quality talents with scientific spirit, humanities and professional qualities, comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physical beauty, and a sense of social responsibility, who can meet the needs of economic and social development. Over the past 80 years of running the school, more than 100,000 medical talents have been trained and delivered to the country and localities. There are many outstanding talents among the alumni, including academicians, experts, and professors. Many alumni have become leaders in the medical and health front. The students trained by our school are known for their solid theoretical foundation and strong practical skills, and are widely welcomed by employers. The employment rate has remained above 96% in recent years. The passing rate of clinical medicine, stomatology, preventive medicine, nursing and other majors has ranked among the best in the country in the past years. For many years, clinical medicine students have been among the best in participating in the national clinical skills competition of medical college students. In May 2016, our school team won the 7th National College of Medical College Clinical Skills Competition with the first overall score. Grand prize in the finals.
